Where exactly is the NYSC orientation camp? This might be the first question you ask yourself when you receive your call-up letter and saw the state you are deployed to, you may even start calling friends, and trying to piece together directions. It is important to know your camp location well before you travel, because showing up late or at the wrong location can cause unneccessary problems on day one.
If your a prospective corps member preparing for your orientation programme, this guide gives you the complete list of all 37 NYSC orientation camps across Nigeria, one in each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). I’ve also included important tips from ex corps members like me who’ve been through the process.
What Is the NYSC Orientation Camp?
The NYSC orientation camp is where every corps member spends the first 21 days (three weeks) of their service year. According to the official NYSC website (www.nysc.gov.ng), the orientation course is designed to give corps members a better understanding of the scheme’s objectives, prepare them for their roles, and instil discipline through paramilitary training and other activities.
During camp, you’ll participate in drills, physical exercises, lectures, skills acquisition programmes, social activities, and even the famous “Man O’ War” obstacle course. At the end of the three weeks, you’ll be posted to your Place of Primary Assignment (PPA).
